As the vogue for weddings embraces a more relaxed approach, the Shireburn Arms at Hurst Green near Clitheroe is becoming the go-to destination for the new-style nuptials.
The idyllic country inn, which has long been a favourite for English country weddings, has launched a brand new programme of ‘build-your-own weddings’. Now couples looking to tie the knot can do so in a less formal way with everything from summer barbecue receptions to ones featuring afternoon tea or classic pub food.
“Not every couple getting married wants to do so on a grand scale these days,” says Shireburn wedding planner (official title Dream Maker), Robyn Conmee. “While formal weddings continue to be popular, we’re also, increasingly, being asked to provide more informal formats. Our new ‘build-your-own’ wedding menu allows couples to do exactly that and build their day their own way.”
So whether it’s a grand buffet at £30 a person, canapes from £5.95 a head or a classic pub menu for £21 each, couples can choose to tailor their day to reflect their interests and personalities, combining their food and drink choices with anything from a rock’n roll rave to vintage tea party.
Said Robyn: “We introduced the concept at our wedding fair in January and it has been well received by potential wedding bookers.”
