Established on the bridal buying calendar as the go-to destination to discover the frontrunners in the market, White Gallery London is renowned for bringing the very best of British bridal design and international talent together under one roof. This year is no different, with acclaimed designers from around the globe launching their latest collections, together with a whole host of New Talent who will debut at the event for the very first time.
Labels to look out for in 2016 include London-based designers Charlotte Simpson and Poppy Dover, Scottish bridalwear label By Catriona, luxury childrenswear brand Evermore by Amberley London and accessories designers Cherished Vintage and The Season Hats.
British designer Charlotte Simpson will present a collection at White Gallery London which builds on the existing pieces that have proven very popular with brides based in both the UK and overseas. In essence, the collection is a continuation of Charlotte’s signature style of minimalist elegance with intricate embroidery. It is, in short, a theme based on modern, refined and exquisitely crafted gowns. There will be lots of new hand embroideries that create unique textured fabrication – all hallmarks of the Charlotte Simpson signature style.
Award winning milliner, The Season Hats specialises in intelligent and elegant hats that are engineered to be flattering and beautiful. The Season Bridal collection from The Season Hats offers contemporary headwear for an elegant yet modern aesthetic as featured in Irish Tatler, Your Wedding and Vogue Italia.
The collection features laser cut white leather headpieces and hairbands which are hand inset with Swarovski crystals, as a contemporary alternative to a tiara. Secured on elastic, these pieces can be worn with the elastic hidden under hair worn down, or with the elastic used as a base for an up-do.
For a softer yet still geometric and modern style, The Season Hats have developed a range of unfolding pieces. These hairbands, headpieces and hats are easy to transport in small bespoke boxes. They unfold and secure with simple snap fasteners for a pristine look. In tulle, they create an ethereal haze around the bride, as much veil as headpiece, while In French satin, they create a more graphic effect, while remaining soft and feminine.
British bridal designer Poppy Dover will showcase her contemporary bridal collection, specialising in delicate hand designed embroidery and beadwork techniques that tell a story. Combining ethereal romance with a touch of British drama and eccentricity, her collection breaks the mould of traditional wedding dress and bridges the gap between fashion and bridal. Based in her studio in Chelsea, London, Poppy works one on one with her clients to provide a dedicated service of Collection, Bespoke and Made to Order. By appointment only.
By Catriona will showcase their Arabesque range at White Gallery London in May, a collection of seven extravagant gowns using intricate modern laces and draped silks and chiffons. Featuring laser cut effects and transparent layering and staying true to the label’s feminine figure hugging silhouettes, this new collection is a real show stopper.
Cherished Vintage will present their Nature’s Diadem Collection. New for 2016, the collection celebrates the beauty of floral and leafy forms, their delicacy and fragility but also their architectural presence. This new collection of made-to-order pieces draws on a range of influences from nature itself to the incredible Art Nouveau jewellery of Rene Lalique. The intricate floral and leafy forms are created by hand and are combined with sparkling Swarovski pearls and crystals in a soft pastel palette of pale pinks, silvery greys, blues and blush.
Many of the pieces have a sculptural quality; lush three-dimensional floral forms sweep through the hair and the collection is perfect for the elegant or bohemian bride. The collection is also incredibly versatile – several Hydrangea Bloom combs can be combined and worn as a full flower crown whilst the Pansy vine also looks amazing as a statement neckpiece.
“The collection is as adaptable as nature itself and clients can request custom designs based on the main floral shapes that feature in the collection,” explains designer Abby. “As every piece is meticulously handcrafted, I can personalise each piece giving brides the opportunity to wear something truly unique.”
Also debuting at the show is Evermore, a range of elegant ceremony wear from upscale childrenswear brand Amberley London. With pieces specifically for flowergirls and junior bridesmaids as well as for religious ceremonies such as holy communion and bat mitzvah, Evermore by Amberley London celebrates timeless design in signature style and incorporates simply gorgeous British, French and Italian fabrics. The line interprets classic silhouettes in perennial favourites such as premium silk and silk organza but also introduces more whimsical elements including embroidered silk brocade, sequined lace, cut silk velvets and delicate feather trims. There are lovely outerwear options in the form of coordinated faux fur or cashmere boleros and shrugs, and for pageboys and junior groomsmen a range of coordinating items – cummerbunds, ties, bow ties and vests – to perfectly complement the girlswear collection.
“We believe in styled-in elegance and like to let immaculate cut and beautiful fabric do the talking, but we also want to show that classic styling does not have to be formulaic or old fashioned” explains designer Becca Curreen. On their dedicated line, she adds: “Ceremonies really do deserve special attention - and the memories can last a lifetime. We think ‘evermore’ really says it all.”
