A winter wedding theme has a particular beauty – and it’s one the Cutture design team loves as there are so many creative options.
Winter makes a fantastic back-drop to a ‘story’ wedding invitation, one that features you and aspects of your life, possibly your proposal or a place that’s special to you. A laser cut wintery scene, or the use of gorgeous crisp, frosty whites as a base colour, make a big impact.
When choosing a bespoke stationery suite, in terms of colour we advise clients to have an open mind at the start of the design process. We find that as we talk to you about your day and the atmosphere you want to create, your view on the perfect palette may change. It’s also important to remember that while there are colours we traditionally associate with winter, such a velvety red, or gold, there are no rules! Your wedding is all about what suits you and your vision for your day and if that means a classic crimson, spring blossoms, or anything in between, it’s up to you!
If a bespoke design isn’t for you, our pre-designed wedding collections are the ultimate ‘luxe’ DIY: you can buy whole suites, or single elements from laser cut outers, which you can then customise with your own printed invitations. ‘Dapper Deer’ is popular for winter weddings; it features fern and antler motifs with copper foil; metallics work really well for a winter wedding as they stand out and have a natural warmth.
With fewer hours of daylight for a winter wedding, table and room decoration can play an important role in brightening a room and creating the atmosphere you want. The beauty of this type of décor is that it can be as small or as vast as you like; we have decorated an entire staircase with cascading layers of snowflakes.
Clever use of light can create a warm, atmospheric feel, particularly if your reception room is large. Lanterns work really well as part of a table centrepiece, and, if you want to create a wow factor, light is a great way of doing this. One of my favourite pieces was when we created dozens of lanterns, all arranged to hang from a tree placed within the reception area. It was a major talking point amongst guests and also proved to be a very popular spot for photographs.
