Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge (formerly known as Kate Middleton) celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary recently. At the time of their wedding back in 2011, it was one of the most highly anticipated Royal weddings of all time rivalling that of Prince William’s parents.
The wedding ceremony was held in Westminster Abbey in London on April 29th in 2011 and 237 tweets were being sent every second prior to the ceremony, such was the level of interest!
With close to 2,000 guests invited to the ceremony it was an extremely lavish affair that included other Royals, politicians and diplomats. In fact, two billion people in more than 180 countries are thought to have seen images, reports and television snippets of the ceremony.
Five years later and there has been no stopping the Royal power couple who are now blessed with a little Prince and Princess. The Duchess has grown into her own and has become a fashion and charity ambassador in her own right as well as a mother to two young children. Prince William has undertaken pilot duties with the East Anglian Air Ambulance and continued to make public appearances in support of various charities as well as being father to their two children.
As a couple they have conducted Royal tours of Canada, the Far East, Australia, New Zealand and most recently of India and Bhutan. These tours in addition to their growing family has made them one of the most high profile Royal couples worldwide.
